The book is intended as a further exploration of Emily Dickinson's poetic language. It explores all of Dickinson's poetry, and tries to distinguish the good from the poor, and to observe how and why the poet fails or succeeds. The book is also intended as a contribution to the new type of studies which takes account of the theories and methods of modern linguistics in analyses of literary works.
